Interestingly, Corning was actually considering closing down the Serengeti division in 1984 due to poor sales. With new management and technology, however, the brand completely took off and is considered one of the best and fanciest brands of sunglasses today. Serengeti incorporates various technologies into their lenses such as photochromic technology, spectral control, and polarization. Photochromic technology enables the lens to adjust quickly to light variations. Spectral gives high definition contrast and color enhancement. Polarization eliminates almost all glare and 100% of UV rays.
